Thanks with Modern Layered Florals

Just playing around with one of my recent purchases from Pink Fresh Studio.  The bouquet is called "Modern Layered Florals", and I used "Diamond Pane" for the background pattern, blending on a rainbow of colors using brushes.  Sparkling clear confetti from Kat Scrappiness adds a bit of shine.

A Big Slice of Happy

The next birthday on my calendar belongs to a pizza lover, so it was an easy choice to use this set of cute pizza builder dies from MFT for the card.  I just finished a card based upon the Mojo sketch, but  it has the perfect space for a paper pizza, so I made a second card with the layout.  Love it!

Mojo Monday: Jeremiah 29:11

This year, the teachers at my elementary school have prayer pals.  My prayer pal listed Jeremiah 29:11 as her favorite scripture, so I am thrilled to have a little crafting time to get this made for her.  In thinking about the scripture, the promise was made to the nation of Israel while they were in captivity.  I feel a little that way right now, and the phrase 'hope and a future' is just a little dearer than ever before!

Happy Bird-Day

After heat embossing and watercoloring this adorable little MFT peacock, I layered him over MFT stitched and scalloped squares and added the punny birthday sentiment, substituting a scattering of purple sequins for the circles in the sketch.

This was a fun card to create, and the sketch made assembly pretty quick.

Modern Florals--Thanks

I was blessed with a Simon Says Stamp gift card and had some funds set aside for crafting supplies, so I ordered Modern Florals and the Diamond Tiles background stamp by Pink Fresh Studio.  When I get new stamps, I usually spend some time just  experimenting  with them.  In this case, I practiced aligning the layers and stamped several of the bouquets in pinks, aquas, and purples.  They look so pretty scattered over my desk!  I am delighted with this purchase and so thankful for the SSS gift card that stretched my crafting budget!

Wishing you a peaceful Sunday and a little crafting time when you need it,

Christine

Florals on Kraft

Several Christmases ago, I treated myself to Stitched Flowers by My Favorite Things.  The purchase was a splurge, but I have never regretted ordering this very versatile set!    I layered one of the larger dies, blending some yellows and adding a dark center for a sunflower look.

I feels like soooooo long since I've made a card. The last couple of weeks have been busy.  We moved back into the school after a huge remodeling project that started in late spring and continued through the summer.  I am teaching online for the first quarter (SO thankful for that opportunity), but remote education fills the school day and continues until late at night!

Thanks so much for visiting,
Christine

Mojo Monday: I lift my eyes to the hills

Today is the last day of teacher inservice---Zoom edition.  Tomorrow, I move everything from the spare bedroom into my renovated classroom and prepare for classes on Monday.  I decided to spend today's lunch break making a card using the Mojo sketch.  This scripture seemed a  perfect choice after reading it this morning.

Back to school is such an exciting time, but it's also a time of great adjustment.  This year---more than ever--moms, dads, littles, and teachers stand in need of prayer.  The good thing is that God has not changed one bit; nor has He grown weary or taken His eyes off us.

Have a blessed week,

Christine

Wishing you Peace

Melissa's Fab Friday Feature provides a tutorial for a beautiful "wishing you" card.  I used PTI's Brushed Birds  for a wishing you peace cards because they do look so serene. They also remind me of a sweet scripture:  in Psalm 91, God promises to cover us with his feathers and to shelter us under his wings.

After ink blending Lemon Tart and Blueberry Sky inks, I stamped the leaves from Birthday Bouquet, stacking several layers of branches to create a dimensional perch for the birds.  I splashed on some water and white paint for a soft look and mounted the panel over the Large Scalloped Stacker die.

Happy Birthday with bright patterns

The Mod Squad Challenge is to use three patterned papers, and that was a fun task using this bright stack from Doodle Bugs.  The flower, leaves, button and stitched squares are all MFT dies.

Birthday Sunflowers

It's always fun to see how crafters interpret the MFT Sketch challenges.  I enjoy seeing different ways creativity is sparked!  My card started with a stenciled striped panel and I added a few of MFT's Stitched Flowers inked up to resemble sunflowers.  Love the cheerful look!

Sunshine and Laughter with Pattern Trio

I started making cards by finding sketch challenges, and that resulted in my style developing into one that includes lots of layers and patterned papers.  These papers are from a Carta Bella collection that I picked up last summer while traveling.  I love the florals included in this collection and never met a gingham I didn't like.  The sentiment is from my beloved Verve stash, and MFT stitched flower was inked to match the blooms on the panel.  I am sure I will be entering all three times to the  current Mod Suqad challenge as I do love papers!

Butterfly---Just a Note

The Double D Challenge provides a beautiful inspiration photo to prompt crafting with butterflies.  I ordered a set of color coded blending brushes and have had such fun with them this summer.  It's truly my most effective method of blending....such a satisfying process when things are working out smoothly!   I blended colors in rainbow order around a small rectangle of paper, cut the frame, and used part of the interior space to cut out the solid layer of the butterfly.  CAS cards are a challenge to me, and I spent a long time arranging the elements until I was pleased.

Ham it Up on Your Birthday

The final MFT Summer School lesson is on white space.  I used Hogs and Kisses and lots of white space for a CAS card that might even work for a guy----a section of my card stash that is often lacking.  I think this card shows more attractive symmetry than the card I made to show this concept.

[Playing along with the Summer School lessons was a blast and gives a nice sense of accomplishment before starting teacher inservice tomorrow.  Please pray for a healthy and successful school year across our nation.  There are so many concerns regarding both academics and safety, but prayer changes things!

Hello with Pressed Flowers

Ombre is the fourth technique shared in MFT's Summer School lessons.  MFT Pressed Flowers lend themselves perfectly to this effect; as the layers are stamped in a single hue, the centers become progressively darker than the edges of the blooms.  After stacking multiple 'hello' die cuts, I sponged on blue ink to create a darker top edge fading toward the bottom of the word.  Wink of Stella adds some shine to the lower edge, but it doesn't show well in the photo.  This was a really fun techniuqe!

Birthday Queen

I am playing along with MFT's wonderful Summer School lessons.  I knew that this one on symmetry would be hard fro me as I struggle to keep things even and straight.  I love this stamp set and the crown die---both from MFT---and use them frequently.  Just not sure that I am crazy about this card.  It's good though to come face to face with a crafting style that could use more work because there's only room for growth!

Thanks for taking a look,

Rainbows and Flowers

The second lesson in MFT's Summer School is using rainbow hues.  After blending a gull card panel in ROYGBIV, I cut it into three strips and inverted the center one, layering three white flowers from MFT's Stitched Flowers collection.  After experimenting with different colored centers, I decided to go with pure white, arranging the three blooms in a messy visual triangle.  This was a fun card to create.

Birds of a Feather Wreath

I am late for school---MFT Summer School, that is!  I thought the party started on Monday only to find that the third lesson was posted yesterday!  This card features Lesson One, the Visual Triangle.  Wreaths came to mind as I always try to embellish them with elements in triangular arrangements.  The die cut flowers from MFT's Birds of a Feather were arranged in three triangles, and I added enamel dots to the pink blooms to emphasize a triangle centered around the bird.  The wreath was trimmed with the largest of the stitched scalloped squares and mounted on a 4.25 square base.

Have a great day and try one of the MFT design lessons!

Wedding Wishes

Happy Monday!  I am playing along with Reverse Confetti's Stock Your Stash:  Wedding Cards.  This card features one of my favorite sets ever, Peony, by Reverse Confetti.  It was colored with dye inks and a water brush....such fun!!!

Have a fabulous week,
