You're so Sweet

I love the new feature on the Ink to Paper blog called "What do I do with that".  The current series is  all about  embossing powder.  The lessons and samples have been so beautiful.

To meet the challenge to use EP, I stamped the Loosely Woven background on white card stock with clear EP.  After embossing, I blended on the sky using a stencil and Blueberry sky ink. Buffing the panel lifted the ink that had collected on the embossed design and left a subtle background.  Also included on my project are a pair of Brushed Birds, Scalloped Circles, Farmer's Market Florals, and a sentiment and tag die from Delightful Bunch.

Thanks so much for visiting,

Thinking of You with Lush Blooms

Breaking out some new Ink to Paper goodies for this card.  I stamped three of the Lush Blooms flowers the other evening when my order arrived.  Instead of using the stem, I layered the bloom over the Love to Layer Scalloped Circles and one of the dies from Doily Delicates.  I decided to add the sentiment on a tiny tag to contrast with the bold elements.

Ink Blending with Lush Blooms

PTI's new Lush Blooms is so delightful!  It aligns easily and its size makes a striking statement.  For this card, it is simply layered over a panel blended with Pale Peony, Lemon Tart, Green Parakeet, and Blueberry Sky.

Wishing you a beautiful Saturday,
Christine

Just Because with Lush Blooms

Many, many thanks to Ink to Paper for the big envelope of happy mail!  I was blessed to have random wins in a challenge draw and during the release party last weekend.   What a blessing!

The Lush Blooms set aligns easily and stamps such striking blossoms.  I stamped several blooms for future projects while trying it out.  This one is going to a special friend tomorrow along with a simple hand-made gift.

In keeping with the "What do I do with this?" challenge on the Ink to Paper Blog, embossing powder was incorporated into the project.  I stamped the sentiment and embossed with sparkly gold powder.  I love the coordinating die cut!

Thanks again Ink to Paper!

Fill my Cup, Lord

Combining the wonderful Mojo Monday sketch with a few challenge themes---coffee and patterned papers. Such fun!  I love to paper piece this coffee cup using a tiny print, but the flower just wouldn't fit quite right, even after fussy cutting and trying to add it as a layer.  I like where it landed on the saucer.

Have a wonderful day,

Coffee Days

This cute (and true) sentiment comes from a tiny SSS set called Coffee Hour.  It includes one other sentiment, the adorable coffee mug, and two coffee beans.  The sentiment fits nicely on the MFT 'to-go' cup.  After inking a rainbow around the perimeter of a 4 x 5.23 panel, I spritzed it with water, stamped the cups and beans in matching colors, and splattered on some white acrylic paint.   There are things I would change with another attempt at this type of background, and I am looking forward to trying it on different project.

Lilies in a Teacup

Have you ever had "extras" on your craft desk that you hoped and hoped to reuse in a new project?  I have recently enjoyed using the Lily Die-Namics from MFT and have had a few extra pieces from each project.  Time and again, I hoped fit them into a project, and I couldn't get it right.  After making a card for the Coffee Lovers hop using the Coffee or Tea dies from Simply Stamp, I thought to try these left-over lilies in the smaller cup.  I like how the bouquet turned out.

Teacup Bouquet

I am so excited that this weekend holds another Ink to Paper challenge and the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop, so I decided to combine the two.  I used PTI's Birthday Bouquet to create a floral arrangement and nestled in a pretty teacup cut with a die from Stamp Simply's Coffee or Tea set.

Wishing you a fabulous weekend,

Christine

Enjoy Your Special Day

Papertrey Ink's Butterflies and Blooms has been on my wish list for a long time, and it was recently restocked.  I am so happy that it arrived in time for a card for the Mod Squad butterfly-themed challenge.  The butterfly was embossed with clear powder, and Pale Peony, Lilac Grace, and Aqua Mist were blended over it.  The same colors were used to stamp the small flowers for the background.  I enjoyed inking up this new set!

MFT Sketch with Lily Dies

I squeezed the very last crafting moments from Spring Break, and even though I've not strayed far from home this year it has seemed luxurious to have so much time to craft!

MFT's recently re-released lily dies have been such a delight to use.  I've made a couple of cards featuring them in pink and decided to give the Tiger Lily colors a try this time.   I followed the MFT sketch fairly literally and will add a sentiment later on.

Wishing you a great week to come,

Christine

Happy Birthday with Flourishing Florals

It will be wonderful to return to school tomorrow, but I will miss the extra crafting time enjoyed during Spring Break.  The Ink to Paper blog has certainly kept the challenges coming, and the latest is to create a floral card.  This one features Flourishing Florals and a a couple of images from Birthday Bouquet.  They florals are layered over one of PTI's Basic Bookmark dies topped with a pink bow.

Mojo Monday--Best Bunnies

When Papertrey Ink released Best Bunnies last spring, it sold out very quickly, so I was delighted to find the stamps and dies available on Amazon, of all places!  The Mojo Monday sketch provided the perfect spot for one of the bunnies to peek out, and I had such fun using both the sketch and these cute images.

Happy crafting,

Christine

Peony Easter Wishes

I love this big peony from Reverse Confetti!   Its size makes a statement, and it is pretty in any color.  After stamping on smooth Bristol paper, I used a blender brush to add light shading and painted some accents with a water brush.  The layers are Reverse Confetti's Lacy Scalloped Rectangle and Scalloped Bag and Tag dies.

Watercolor Florals

I am playing along with a new feature on the Ink to Paper blog called "The Great Cover Up".  Kavya provided a wonderful tutorial video on faux watercoloring.  It begins with images stamped in dye ink; I chose PTI's Floral Sketches in Hibiscus Burst, Harvest Gold, and Spring Green.  The next step was to paint over and around the images with water colors.  The panel was completed with watercolor and white acrylic splatters.  Now, here's the "Cover Up" on my card.  The set includes an elongated cluster of tiny blooms which I stamped in purple.  Watercoloring over them caused the small blossoms to lose their shape and become a blotchy mess.  That is why my full card panel became a square.  It was a fun process, and like other things will improve with additional attempts.

Christine

Aqua Mist Butterfly Birthday

A girl might know she has become a paper-crafting addict when she identifies her favorite colors with ink and card stock hues.  My original plan for this card was to heat emboss butterflies and to ink blend over them with a trio of colors.  I started with PTI's Aqua Mist and liked it so well that I just kept going.  That shade is an accent color in our den and frequently graces the table in the adjoining dining room.  It is so soothing.

The pretty butterflies are from two sets:  Verve's Butterfly Grace and a tiny set I picked up at Tuesday Morning a couple of years ago.  The sizes work together nicely for a background like this.  The delicate silver butterfly was cut using a Memory Box die.

I am off to enjoy a few minutes reading a good book before starting dinner. (I --heart--Spring Break!)

Sunflower Birthday

Sunflowers. Maybe my choice of stamps is another way of saying how eager I am for warmer weather.  Spring Break started this week, and the March winds are chilly!   It was nice to dream of the summer sun while watercoloring these pretty Newton's Nook blooms in the inspiration colors.

With Love Challenge

Melissa Phillips' floral with love card that shared in the current Ink to Paper challenge is just stunning!  Her work is always gorgeous, and I love the artful layering that is evident in all her projects.  To that end, interpreted the 'With Love' challenge by using lots of my favorite PTI dies, Gran's Garden, and a sentiment from Love in Bloom.  You can't go wrong with Gran's Garden, in my opinion!

Birthday Bouquet---Happy Birthday

I try not to miss an Ink to Paper challenge, and Shauna's pretty floral card speaks my language!  I joined the floral theme with PTI's Birthday Bouquet stamped in shades of pink and yellow.  I needed one more bloom for balance, so there is a tiny flower from Gran's Garden.  The silver bow didn't quite work on another project, so I connected it to this project with a trio of silver gems.

Easter Blessings

I thoroughly enjoyed creating with this sweet stamp and die set from Sugar Pea Designs.  I began by blending Distress Oxides in Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar, and Lemonade over a quarter sheet of card stock and spritzing  it very lightly.  The Easter egg die cuts an oval window, leaving the delicate vines behind.  I couldn't bear to discard the inner section, so I pieced it into an identical white panel.  The bunny and Easter dies were stacked and glittered with Wink of Stella.
