Rain or Shine

I was blessed to win a Newton's Nook gift code from Tuesday Throwdown, and my happy mail from Newton arrived earlier this week. At the time, I had no idea that Hurricane Harvey would be making an appearance in my life.

We received unmerited favor in that we were brushed only by Harvey's outer bands and that all in our family are safe and sound. It is ever so clear that we deserved to be spared no more than the victims deserved the storm's arrival.  I am thankful for God's presence in the midst of the winds, rains, and worries of the storm and for all those He sent to pray for and to encourage us.  May God bless all those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 226

Here's my take on this week's Atlantic Hearts Sketch.  Hope you will play along.  I find sketches to be a wonderful inspiration and a big help during those times that the crafty mojo needs a boost.

My card features Freehand Florals from W Plus 9 Designs and my favorite "Happy Birthday" from Verve's Poppy Birthday.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sunday Stamps Color Inspiration: Wishing you all the best

The Sunday Stamps blog has provided such an awesome inspiration photo!   I love the pretty petals in sunrise hues, and found a stack of watercolor papers in my stash to die cut with Reverse Confetti's Lacy Scalloped Rectangles.  Next, I sprinkled on a few Stitched Flowers by My Favorite Things and topped them with enamel dots.  The happy sentiment is from Verve's Kind Words.

Have a super week and thanks for visiting.

Thanks so much!

The beginning of school has been a whirlwind, and after working this morning, I am taking a "crafting break" and trying out a new set of Lacy Scallop Dies from Reverse Confetti.  They work nicely with this week's Freshly Made Sketch.  The sentiment is from Verve's Simply Amazing.

Thanks so much for visiting,
Christine

Viva La Verve: Thank you for all you do! You are appreciated!

It's been a wonderful blessing to have my son at home this summer while he worked locally in a very meaningful summer job.  He's had invaluable experiences that will help him as he returns to college in just a short while.  He asked for several thank you cards to express his appreciation to the gentlemen who trained him and saw that he had a wealth of learning opportunities.  A stack of Tim Holtz papers and the August VLV sketch helped pull together a masculine thank you card featuring a pair of sentiments from Teachers Count by Verve.  (It's one of my most favorite sets!)

Thank you for visiting and have a fantastic week,
Christine

Pop Up Gift Card Holder

Following a very clear video tutorial and using Verve's Butterfly Grace, this cute little pop up gift card holder came together quite quickly and easily.  There are several similar cards that utilize a punch to create the inner pocket for the gift card, but this one only calls for a paper cutter.  The gift card is held firmly in place.

The butterflies were stamped and cut from a piece of watercolor paper that was tinted with Prima Pastel Dreams Watercolor Confections.  I love using them!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I am grateful for some evening time to craft, but my photos are not nearly so good after dark!

Sending Happy Mail and Sharing Happy News

This adorable Newton's Nook stamp was a challenge prize that recently arrived in my mailbox, and it was the perfect image to ink up for this week's Atlantic Hearts Sketch.  I am honored and delighted to have the opportunity to share as a designer at AHSC.  I adore sketches and find them to be a huge help in creating.  It is so much fun to see how a group of stampers will create such a variety of projects with the same sketch.

Thank you for visiting!  Praying your day will bring happy mail or something even better!

Thank You for Making Such a Huge Effort

Couldn't resist playing along with the safari-themed CAS-ology challenge and hope that Rachel will be flattered that I used the same stamp set as her adorable card. The Adorable Elephants from My Favorite Things are aptly named and the sentiment fits the bill for a note I wish to send.

He has made everything beautiful in its time

So excited that the Verve Sketch Challenge has resumed!  My card features  Butterfly Grace and matching dies paired with a new floral collection from Hobby Lobby.

I love this scripture and pray that you will see God's beauty and goodness in your life even if the season you are in is not a lovely one.

Wishing You Much Happiness

One of my teaching colleagues is and has always been the poor kid whose birthday occurred right before school began.  We usually celebrate her birthday during inservice, a time when cake is always welcome.  Instead of making the traditional "belated" card, I chose this sentiment from Verve's Brighter Days.  It includes some lovely flowers and also has two arrows to stamp and die cut.  I chose to use these cuties in place of the banners, topping them with a die cut button and a cotton bow.

Inky Paws Challenge

I was blessed with a win at Pammie's Inky Pinkies and chose this cute image to begin my collection of Newton's Nook products.  It was tons of fun to paper piece Newton's Happy Mail with Hello Sunshine papers from Doodlebug Designs and the great sketch was an extra bonus!

Fun Friday Challenge with Oddball Art Images by Lizzy Love

Happy Friday!  It's time for another Fun Friday Challenge at Jo's Scrap Shack where the theme is always Anything Goes.  The design team is showcasing   Oddball Art images by Lizzy Love.  I added a digital sentiment (found here) to Lizzy Love's cute doodled flowers.

My second card was made with Lizzy Love's sweet ice cream cone, paper-pieced with soft pastel papers from Far, Far Hill.

Please take time to see the design team's samples and to link up your own creations.  It's always fun to see what you have to share!
