MFT Sketch Challenge

I had so much fun with the MFT Sketch Challenge, that I decided to give it a second try!

This time, I combined the sketch with the gorgeous inspiration photo from The Card Concept.  I was drawn to the florals and the golden touches of the photo...but my card became more whimsical than formal when I used a stack of fun, peachy prints picked up at Tuesday Morning for only 99 cents.  (Might be bragging about my bargain here!)  My second stack of TM papers included a light woodgrain print...perfect for the background.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Wedding Wishes

Just a quick share.....this wedding card was created using Verve's Joyful Blooms and Love Everlasting sets. After embossing the joyful blooms, I watercolored them with various inks and a water brush.  The leaves were die cut from Verve's Sprightly Sprigs and the gold was echoed in the scalloped edge cut from PTI's Edgers dies.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch 270

Oh, yes, I am inspired by sketches! After taking one look at this one, I knew that it was perfect for Verve's Kind Words set.  The background was created by swishing and splattering all four blue and green shades of watercolors in Prima's Pastel dreams collection. What fun!

Hope your week will allow some crafting time and that you will give the Atlantic Hearts sketch a whirl!

Birthday Wishes: CASEing Stamp Girl Tanja's Beautiful Tag

Isn't Tanja's tag (shown to the left) an absolute dream?  I love the soft background and the delicate flowers...and pinks and purples are my favorites!

I set out to CASE her tag...and couldn't find my package of tags, so I die cut a scrap of watercolor background.  A red rubber script background stamp and YNS's Flower splatter are stamped in Desert Sand ink as is the sentiment from Verve's Joyful Blooms.  The flowers are "practice pieces" from a new Reverse Confetti set, Banner in Bloom.

Thanks for the inspiration Tanja, and Happy Birthday, Stamplorations!Happy Birthday, Stamplorations!

Happy Birthday, Stamplorations!

Vickie Dutcher's  card is absolutely stunning!  I just love the bright bouquet with the cheerful dotted paper, so it was easy to decide to CASE her beautiful project.

While I love her vivid color scheme, pencils are my coloring medium, and tend to be much paler.  I aimed for a soft blue and white polka dot for the panel, but the flowers image looked washed out, so I selected this more intense paper in a green-blue tone. I used Floral Bliss from Simon Says Stamp.   The panel is cut with a  Reverse Confetti Lacy Scalloped Frame die, and the word die was layered three times for a bit of dimension.

Vickie's original card is shown below.  Thanks, Vickie, for sharing this beauty.  It was fun to CASE!

Hugs and Smiles

It's so much fun to combine color and sketch challenges!  To pick up the colors from the CAS-ual Fridays encouragement challenge photo, I applied Prima Pastel Dreams watercolors in teal, pink and blue to watercolor paper and die cut them with MFT's Stitched Flowers.  The frames were cut with MFT Stitched Squares Die-Namics.  A few enamel dots and a sweet sentiment from Verve's Kind Words finished off the card.

"Time Out" to say "Happy Birthday, Stamplorations"

Wishing Stamplorations a very happy fifth birthday!  I so enjoyed reading Shery's story of how she started the company, and I could feel the dedication of the designers as she shared how so many of them started with her five years ago.  Congratulations on your courage, creativity and success!

I chose to case Kathy's amazing card shown at the left.  Love the sizable coffee sentiment she used...I imitated this with a stamp from A Jillian Vance Design centered on a watercolor panel using Prima Pastel Dreams.  The coffee cups are my favorites....from Verve's Coffee collection.  The patterned papers are all MME scraps.

Build a Bunch: A Bright Hello

This is my second card using a collection of watercolored blooms from Build a Bunch.  This time, the softly colored blossoms are layered over a vivid floral panel which was muted with a vellum frame.  A script-y hello from W Plus Nine completes this  card......now I must be off to cook dinner.

Build a Bunch: Thinking of You

I am most grateful for a Reverse Confetti prize won during a blog hop and have had a wonderful time playing with this new set called Build a Bunch!  After heat embossing a whole sheet of watercolor paper with blooms and leaves, it was fun to color them with various inks using a water brush.   These were layered over PTI's Oval Shape Shifter die, and the Verve greeting is stamped on one of RC's tags from the Tall Tag Trio.

Many thanks to Jen and to Kelly for this awesome prize!

Grace Art Journal Page

Is this an art journal page?  I've never made one before, but I was enchanted by the one Esther shared at Crop Stop.  Her use of a bit of a tissue paper sewing pattern and the incorporation of the scripture was just so clever, and the whole page is so bright and eye-catching.

Anyway, when she challenged participants to a twist in the current challenge, I decided to give it a try.  Rather than an art journal, I chose to use my work as the first page inside a disk-bound journal I use for sermon notes.  I made a mistake when punching the holes, so I mounted the whole page on a sheet of metallic card stock which left a pretty gold border and covered the back of the watercolor paper.

Project steps:
1. Watched youtube videos by Tiffany Solario...fun and informative.
2.  Sponged Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink over watercolor paper.  Added water, Prima watercolors, and metallic gold paint splatters.
3. Dabbed gold paint through a MFT Magical Mandala Doily (=homemade stencil)
4.  Printed Amazing Grace from a website, cut with a deckle-edge Spellbinder rectangle and stamped "grace" from a Verve Plain Jane.  I actually masked off the rest of the text with an extra die-cut banner in my scrap bowl.
5. Stamped the scripture and butterflies from Verve's Butterfly Grace.
6. Smooshed Peacock Feathers ink directly on a chipboard cross I won forever ago from Word Art Wednesday.
7.  Added "Flower Splatter" stamping from YNS and a butterfly corner stamp from ODBD and put the whole thing together.
8.  Added gold cards tock after making a cutting error!!!

Actually, this was a blast, but I don't know if my fingernails will ever be clean again.

Thanks for looking and reading (or skipping) my ramblings,
Christine

Cast Your Cares on the Lord

I knew just which scripture I wanted to share on this card and found a Verve sketch to showcase the vertical sentiment from Scripture Medley Five.  I already miss the Verve sketches, but lucky for me, there are many that were around before I started stamping.  It will be fun to try out some of the older ones.

The Reverse Confetti Stock Your Stash Theme is "Hello/Just Because".  The focal point of the card was created by cutting the center from the Gift Card Holder Tag to create a frame.  It is adorned with watercolored images from Banner in Bloom.  The "hello"  word die was sponged with soft pink ink.

Glowing with Happiness

Love watching fireflies on summer evenings with my husband, so this cute set from Lawn Fawn just jumped into my cart when I had a recent win at Simon Says Stamp. It took a lot of patience to wait for school to end, to finish my summer community service activities, and to reach my goal of cleaning my craft room before playing with these cuties, but it was worth the wait!

Love in actions and in truth

Just a quick post to share a card made with Verve's Scripture Medley 5.  If you haven't heard, all items in the Verve Shop are on sale due to the store's closing.  I'll treasure my Verve stamps all the more, and applaud Julee's decision to spend more time with her family...guess that fits the featured scripture!
