Verve Inspiration: Green---The Smallest Things

I   used three hearts from Verve's Heart Quartet cut blue painter's tape to create a mask before sponging on Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink.  Then I splattered water and white acrylic paint over the green.  A few hearts from Scripture Medley Five were stamped in Cracked Pistachio.  The Hip Hop Bunny was watercolored with Prima Pastel Dreams and Winnie the Pooh's wisdom is also a Verve stamp from the Little Ones collection.

It was lots of fun to experiment with Distress Oxide Ink.  A lesson learned:   The first time around I masked the hearts with hot pink sticky notes, and the pink color bled.  The painters' tape worked really well, though.

Christine

Inspired By All the Little Things: Wedding Wishes

I am enchanted with pretty table settings and adore the colors and mood of the IBATLT photo!  I am also smitten with frames right now and decided to create one using a blend of the pink, coral, and yellows in the ph
oto.  Lots of fun die cuts* were used along with a sentiment from Verve's Love Everlasting.

Thanks for visiting and have a blessed Resurrection Sunday,
Christine

Sunday Stamps Color Palette: Birthday Wishes

What an inspiration photo!  Who doesn't love those speckled candy eggs....and they create such a gorgeous color combination.

I used papers from a watercolor pad, layered some die cuts, and added MFT's Stitched Florals  and a sentiment from Joyful Blooms to complete a quick and spring-y card for my depleted stash.  Such fun!

Thanks for taking a look!

VLV Green Challenge: Cast Your Cares on the Lord

Verve's March Inspiration Challenge  is simple and wide open:  Green.  It challenged me to use some papers I might have passed by.  The soft green and geometric patterned paper came from a Heidi Swapp  stack.  The layers helped to tone down the graphic strip, and I like the softness of the background.  The green layer of the feather is a paint chip...one more way I embarrass DH---collecting paint swatches in home improvement stores. They are great fro crafting, though.

Images and dies:  Scripture Medley Five and Beautiful Things from Verve.  The feather dies are by Papertrey Ink.

Thank you for taking a look,
Christine

AHSC 256: Birthday Wishes

Reverse Confetti's Lacy Scalloped Frames form the layers suggested by the Atlantic Hearts Sketch, and the floral stem was created using Joyful Blooms by Verve. The little tag is from a  package purchased for tagging sale items and is perfect for the tiny sentiment, also from Joyful Blooms.

Spring Floral Birthday

So many challenges...so little time!  For this card, I let several challenges do the decision making.  The breathtaking color inspiration board was  created for the current SSS Wednesday Challenge, the sketch with such lovely layers was provided by Sunday Stamps, and it's fun to create a birthday card to celebrate both with a friend and with Time Out Challenge as it turns four.

Lots of dies were used to cut solids from my scrap files:  A2 Noted by Papertrey Ink, Reverse Confetti Gift Card Holder Tag,  and Little Inker Designs Quilted Flowers.

Christine

Green: Celebrate Your Day

My niece has a "Just-Missed-St.-Patrick's-Day" Birthday on the 18th, so it wasn't a big stretch to play along with Verve's Green Inspiration Challenge for her card.  I pulled out an old MME stack that consists of only the outer covers and random scraps of muted greens, sure that I would use them up on this card.  There are still a few pieces too pretty to throw away....maybe one more card will do it!

I used the  Paper Craft Crew Sketch (loosely) to accommodate my scraps and to leave the gift card holder open at the top.  I am happy with the soft look and the printed elements showing in the background.  The flowers are from Verve's Kindness Matters and the sentiment is from Poppy Birthday.  The pretty scalloped gift card holder is by Little Inker Designs.  It is a great card element, especially attractive with double-sided paper.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you are enjoying the beginnings of spring.

Verve Diva Inspiration: Teachers Live Forever in the Hearts They Touch

I am excited to see the Verve Diva Inspiration Challenge return.  This month the challenge is simply "green".  After thumbing through my stacks and failing to find winning combinations, I turned to my digital collection.  I saved these papers from Pixel Scrapper, intending to use them with Teacher's Count.  With this combination, the fun began and the card came together quickly.

Thanks for looking,
Christine

March VLV Sketch: Happy Birthday

New Verve Sketch rescues crafter from slump!

Don't you just love the latest VLV sketch!  If you haven't seen the Diva's samples, you are in for a big treat.

Carta Bella's Welcome Home collection was a Christmas gift from someone sweet who "gets me".  It was a great place to look for papers to layer using the pretty sketch.  The sentiment is now available in  Cake and Candles by Verve, and I used dies from Reverse Confetti found here and here.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy Spring/Break!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 254: Have an Amazing Birthday

This card was made from "practice panels" created while getting acclimated to Distress Oxide inks.  I had the best luck using a blending tool to apply the ink to watercolor paper.  I spritzed liberally with water to softly blend the colors and finally got a few of the "oxidized splotches".

I watched lots of videos and loved a  direct to paper technique that was later  blended with a sponge....I couldn't get the ink to move.  Hopefully, all aspects of blending will come with practice.

I used two Verve sets for the butterflies and the sentiment:  Butterfly Grace and Poppy Birthday.  Love, love these collections!

Sunday Stamps Color Inspiration: Have an Amazing Birthday

The cheerful shades of spring green and soft neutrals shown in the Sunday Stamps Inspiration palette brought  out my new Spring Wreath Die from The Cat's Pajamas. The wreath and flowers were cut from watercolor paper and shaded with distress inks using a water brush.  I layered the focal panel over some pretty plaid to bring out a masculine look and finished it off with one of my favorite birthday sentiments from Verve.

This is such a wonderful birthday to celebrate.  A dear uncle will be eighty in a few days.  Not only is he greatly loved, but his health and well-being are an answer to fervent prayers through a lengthy illness a few years back.  We are grateful for more time to enjoy him on this side of Heaven.  Praying God's faithfulness in this instance will be a blessing to someone with needs.

Thanks so much for your visit,
Christine

I am Here for You

This wonderful stamp set was created by Photo Paper Play and benefits Hurricane Harvey relief.  I received it from a kind shop keeper with whom I visited while traveling for the holidays.  When she learned that we are from the Houston area, she gave me the set as a gift, and I just love the encouraging sentiments.  When our grade level chose Texas as the theme of our silent auction basket, I vowed to create a set of cards.  I loved combining this set with some yellow roses from Reverse Confetti's Rose Garden.

Please remember to pray for the many victims of Harvey. The road to repair is a long one.

Thanks for stopping by,
Christine
