I lift my eyes

The current Great Cover Up challenge on the Ink to Paper blog is to use a frame without removing all the little pieces from it.  The photo tutorial confirmed my assumption that this was done by cutting the panel with the die cutting side up and to apply tape to the back of the paper.

Dainty Deliveries has such slender stems and tiny leaves that I ended up with one area skewed and couldn't realign it without risking tearing the delicate areas.  So.....I covered that spot with flowers and leaves from Gran's Garden.  If the truth be told, card design (for me, at least) often centers around what area needs to be camouflaged.  I do like the frame with all the cuts included!

Christine

Welcome Twins!

A co-worker is expecting twin girls, and we will celebrate with a shower later in the week.  I searched my stash of baby stamps and the sentiments "welcome baby" or "it's a girl" just didn't seem to include twins, so I stamped 'twin bunnies' from a favorite Verve set and added plenty of pink layers, a 'junk bow', and a sweet heart-shaped button.

Have a wonderful day!

It's Your Day

Many thanks to Ink to Paper for a recent gift card!  I love playing visiting the blog for inspiration, have fun playing along, and it's a treat to win a random draw.  Feathered Friends 6 was part of my order and was die cut in 'blue jay tones' for Father's Day.

'Chirp' Up

I am playing along with the current MFT sketch challenge using their Birds of a Feather Die-Namics.  The birdhouse was cut from woodgrain print, bu the other pieces were cut from white card stock and inked with a blender brush.  I like the sketch and its nudge toward making a square card.

Wishing you a cheerful day,
Christine

Great Cover Up---Birthday Wishes

I am playing along with The Great Cover-Up challenge on the Ink to Paper blog.  One of the options is to create a card with a tone-on-tone background.  This one was created with Bitty Big cardstock in Spring Rain.  The blooms are from Birthday Bouquet, and the layers include the Large Scallop Stacker Die and Love to Layer Scalloped Circles.

Hope you have a bright and cheerful day!

Bright Roses for Mother's Day

I love to stamp Reverse Confetti's Rose Garden images in bright colors, and the scalloped edge adds quick and beautiful detail to any layout!  This little card came together quickly....Mother's Day will be here quickly, as well.  I just ordered a gift for mom and am glad to have a card ready, too.

Butterfly Birthday

This has to be the most fun I've ever had creating with an angled panel, but that is because the sketch included measurements!  No tellin' how much paper I have hacked up trying to get angles to look right!!!!  Another Mojo sketch to pin, for sure.

The Ink to Paper blog has had a feature including various ways to use embossing powder, and I played along by embossing the butterfly from Butterfly Blooms in glittery gold powder and 'painting' it with Raspberry Fizz ink.

It's been a great day, and I was blessed with a few minutes to craft!  Hope you have something that's been a special blessing today, too.

Peony for Mom

What fabulous fortune!  My need for a Mother's Day card coincided with some great challenges!  I love to watercolor Reverse Confetti's Peony images and have had such fun utilizing the yellow and gray color scheme of the current Mod Squad challenge.  The beautiful gems are from a recent win at Kat Scrappiness where the current theme is florals.

Thanks for taking a look!  Have a wonderful week!

Mojo Monday: Happy Birthday to You!

Love the new Mojo sketch and all the possibilities it holds!  I combined it with the current Mod Squad challenge to use only the colors yellow and gray, adding black and white as neutrals.  This is not a go-to color combination for me, so I find it really refreshing.  I finished the card with some sparkly pinwheel sequins from Kat Scrappiness which were part of a recent, much-appreciated prize.

Hope your day is a bright, happy one!

Flourishing Florals --Thank You

I am ever so thankful that more students are returning to school and that my in-person students outnumber those continuing to work virtually.  It is a delight to teach face-to-face, it's so much more effective, and it is making my schedule a little more manageable.

Even with a bit more time to craft, it's still fun to combine challenges.  I used Ink to Paper's Flourishing Florals and plenty of their wonderful dies to create a thank you card for Shauna's challenge, and the Mod Squad challenge provided the yellow and gray color scheme.  According to the Pantone Color Institute, those are the 'in' colors for 2021, and I think the combination of sunny and stormy is a good one!  I like where this color challenge took the card, and I am going to make it a point to learn more about the Pantone Color Institute.

Thanks for taking a look,

Wish Big

I requested this Spellbinders die set for Christmas and even received the add-on dies that provide more sentiments.  I struggle with masculine cards, so these dies are satisfying to use!  I recently ordered some clear enamel dots and and found a size that fit perfectly over the lights, giving them a rounded and shiny appearance---that kinda makes up for the asymmetrical mirrors!

Hope you are having a wonderful week and are gearing up for a great weekend!

Gran's Garden Birthday Wishes

The Great Cover Up is a new feature on the Ink to Paper Blog. The current installment has two lovely inspiration pieces and two options for playing along.  I chose to layer a mixture of old and new products.  Delicate Delivery is from a recent release and my latest Ink to Paper order. Gran's Garden is probably my all time favorite from PTI.

Find Refuge

The Ink to Paper Blog has some great new features.  One of those is called "What do I do with this?"  Currently the question is being applied to embossing powder, providing lots of fun ideas for using this almost magical technique.  Lori shared a gorgeous heat embossed butterfly that was watercolored in a beautiful stained glass style.  I watercolored the feathers in the stained glass style, making one of them a little bolder than the other and pairing them with this sweet Psalm.

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday MFT Sketch

Early church and late lunch plans allowed some time to assemble this card I started yesterday for the MFT sketch challenge.  I love the tilted panels and the layers of the sketch and will surely use it again!

Wishing you a joyous Easter!

Easter Bouquet

Melissa's Fabulous Friday challenge is to make an Easter card.  My Easter cards all went into the mail last Saturday, but that didn't prevent making just one more.  Melissa's gorgeous card used the stems and leaves from Birthday Bouquet.  I loved her card and used the same stamps along with her idea of using an actual ribbon on the stems.
Wishing your a joyous Easter,

May He Give You the Desire of Your Heart

Happy Easter weekend!  I am playing along with The Great Cover Up challenge on the Ink to Paper blog.  Svitlana and Melissa both gave great tips for designing and for fixing the inevitable mistakes that happen during card-making.  I took Melissa part of the challenge and created a card on which the sentiment stands out.  The big, beautifully lettered Psalm fills the Oval Shape Shifter die and is accented  by the smallest blooms from Floral Sketches.  I like the cheery spring colors and think I will set this aside for a young lady who is graduating this May.

A Note of Thanks with Flourishing Florals

There are several exciting demonstrations on the Ink to Paper blog.  Shauna shared a wonderful video in which she created a floral design to express gratitude.  I copied several of the elements in her project:  Delicate Deliveries layered  Scalloped Circle dies.  For the floral element, my card features Flourishing Florals in Lemon Tart and Summer Sunrise.

Birthday Blessings --The Sea

This stamp set by Sweet-N-Sassy is called The Sea.  It includes this serene silhouette and some peaceful scriptures about the sea.  I set out to ink blend a background, and kept making silly mistakes---like ink on my fingers ----before getting a usable panel.  I intentionally kept things simple because the card is for a male relative and my husband specifically said, "No flowers."
