Plum Peony

I love purple!  I love flowers!  I adore this peony stamp from Reverse Confetti!!!  Since the the good folks at the Double D blog  allow three entries per challenge, I wanted to  create another purple card. Why not a purple peony? The image was stamped in archival ink and tinted with Lilac Grace and Plum Pudding inks using a water color brush.  I added a strip of plaid which was stamped in Plum Pudding and layered everything over a base that was watermarked with a soft script and splattered in Plum Pudding.  I also discovered that a little purple at the base of a leaf creates a nice shadowy area.

Birthday Trio

I thought Newton's Birthday Trio  might work well with the trio of vertical rectangles on the sketch.  I cut all the panels from a fun shimmery, glossy stack called Birthday Wishes and colored the image with Arteza Real Brush markers.

Sketch Challenge --Brushed Birds

One of my newest stamp sets is Brushed Birds by Papertrey Ink. When I get a new set, I love to try out all the images in lots of colors.  I keep them separated in a divided tray and have them ready to go for future cards.  It is a lot of fun and really helps me "get used to" how the images stamp and in this case, layer.

I used a homemade cloud stencil and Peacock Feather Distress Oxide to create a sky panel.  I cut layers using the Pink Fresh Ornate Banner die, and added the branches, leaves, and birds.

Lilac--Lavender--Purple Challenge

I have discovered a new challenge:  Double D Challenges, and what a great discovery it is!  The mood board is absolutely gorgeous, and I love all shades of purple!  I stamped blooms from PTI's Farmer's Market in two shades of purple and created a coordinating panel using a plaid background stamp.  The scalloped banner was die cut using one of the Edgers dies from Reverse Confetti.  I had fun creating this card and am glad to have found a new challenge!

Mother's Day Blessings

Although my Mother's Day cards have already been mailed, I couldn't resist playing along with Melissa's Fab Friday Feature at Ink to Paper.  Her card is lovely, and the great step-by-step photo tutorial gave me the courage to try a new technique.  After stamping a cluster of flowers and leaves from Gran's Garden in the lower left corner, I blended some Harvest Gold and Summer Sunrise in the top right area.  The sentiment was heat embossed on vellum and a few more flowers were scattered over that layer.  The adhesive is hidden behind those blooms for a clean look.

I will be trying this technique again for another occasion!

Soft Hydrangeas

Hydrangeas are one of many flowers that I enjoy!  The soft colors and golden accents in the gorgeous Card Concept inspiration photo compelled me to play along.  After embossing the hydrangea image from Technique Tuesday in sparkling gold powder, I softly tinted the flowers with watercolors.  The textured paper used for the background panel has a subtle shimmer.  Just for fun, I cut the sentiment tag twice and trimmed off a little gold strip to accent the end.

I am really not sure of my card making style....usually, it's clean and layered.  This one may have a touch of classy and elegant style.

Mother's Day Birds

Papertrey's Brushed Birds is my newest stamp set, and I have had so much fun stamping these layered images in every color of ink!  I couldn't resist using the pink ones for a Mother's Day card.
