Celebrate Your Day

Laurie's Fabulous Favorites Challenge is to use kraft.  I love kraft as a card element and use it often, but I haven't stamped solid color images on it as shown here.  I used blooms from Gran's Garden, layering Distress Oxide inks over white.  It was fun technique to try and is something I'll continue to experiment with.

Christine

Cast your cares on the Lord

I found a fun new sketch challenge at Grace Journaling with Susan Lee Rose.  I love the card she made with this sketch and the reason behind creating it.  My card features MFT's Stitched Flower dies cut from watercolor scraps and a sweet scripture from my Verve stash.  I am sending it to a friend with health struggles.

Thanks for visiting,
Christine

Happy Bird-Day

MFT's Playful Peacocks have been on my wishlist for a while, and I happened to have a few crafting dollars set aside when the stamps and dies were on sale.  I watercolored a few of the pretty fellas one evening last week and finally found some time to assemble a card.  The MFT sketch came in quite handy!

Hope you are having a bright and happy day!
Christine

Pink and Mint Birthday

Melissa Phillips created a gorgeous card featuring pink poinsettias inked with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink.  The "oxide spots" created such a soft and pretty look.  I created a Worn Lipstick DO panel of water color paper and cut some TH Tattered Florals.  The mint panel is stenciled with Altenew's Watercolor Stripes stencil in aqua mist.  The heart doily is a favorite SSS die.

Thanks so much for stopping by,
Christine

Thanks for Everything

Michelle's card was chosen as my inspiration piece.

Ink to Paper had an amazing release, and I must save up a little shopping money!  Laurie's Fabulous Favorites Challenge is back on the ITP blog, and it is to CASE a card made for the release.  I just love Michelle's card shown in kraft and sunflower....so beautiful!  I recreated it in red, using the Ink to Paper Loosely Woven Background stamp and Bitty Bouquets stamps and matching dies from PTI.  The frames are cut from the A2 Noted dies which are never far from reach.

Christine

My Grace is Sufficient

What a blessing today has been!  I've been completely exhausted keeping up with the beginning of school as well as preparing for my son's upcoming wedding.  Both good things, but I was just so tired....today TD Imelda passed our way leaving lots of rain.  As a precaution, school was cancelled, and I feel so revived just to have laundry happening and to find some time to craft.

There's no particular recipient for this card in mind...I am just rejoicing in the truth of this verse.  What encouragement!

The design came from Mojo Monday, the scripture is part of my beloved Verve stash, the stenciling was done with Altenew's Watercolor Stripes, Reverse Confetti Build a Bunch provided the flowers, and the base panel was cut with Stamplorations Crazy Double Running Stitches die.

Wishing you a wonderful day!

Wishing you a Year of Joy

I am so very thankful to be home crafting today!  Tropical Storm Imelda visited about the time the school buses should have been beginning their routes this morning and brought lots of rain.  To be cautious, our school day was cancelled.  Now, the storm has passed and all is well.

I really needed a day to rest and relax.  It's been nice to listen to Lisa Harper share Bible lessons as I tried out this new-to-me card technique.  I was inspired by Lin's project for SSS to make an interactive card.

Trick Or Treat

Life is certainly busy and full of good things!  Crafting hasn't fit into my schedule so much lately, and it seems like I haven't participated in a challenge in ages.  I love to play along at Inky Paws Challenge when time and my stamp collection allow.  I don't have much in the way of Halloween stamps, but I found this cute NN freebie here.  I enjoyed coloring it with pencils and adding some fun plaids!

Thanks for taking a look.  Hope you have a great week!

You're So Sweet

This card is for someone is truly so sweet!  Her birthday is coming in a few weeks, but I am sending this a little early with tickets to see Downton Abbey.  We are both fans, and I wish we could see it together.  Time and distance won't allow it, but I want her to have this little treat just to know she is thought of with much love.

The fun stamp and die set is called Delightful Bunch and is from Ink to Paper.  The Loosely Woven Background covers the bottom section, grounding the image and creating a nice, clean look.

Thanks for visiting and have a great week,
Christine

God is our Refuge and Strength

Sharing this card with a co-worker who is in need of some encouragement and prayer.  I love this scripture, a true reminder that we can lean on God and that He didn't disappear just because something bad happened.  The scripture and apple stamps are Verve products from my stash, and the school-themed papers are from an Echo Park collection called Teacher's Pet.

Hope remembering this scripture was an encouragement to you,
Christine

With Sympathy

We visited the grand opening of a local hardware store this morning.  I picked up some paint chips and made these no-fail-always-pretty roses using Altenew's Garden Picks Dies.  The purchase was a splurge, but I really enjoy using them.  Since there is no stamping involved in creating the flowers, paint chips provide a fun way to choose a  palette.  I always add a bit of Wink of Stella, and it's obviously time for a new pen.  The glitter is pretty sparse.  We needed a sympathy card the other day, and my stash is out of those, so I added a small with sympathy sentiment so as to have one on hand.

Happy Labor Day!!

Happily Ever After

This card is for an  upcoming fall wedding. Love the warm colors in the floral panel, but I couldn't resist adding a little textured paper that was in a specialty pad.  I CASEd the design from one of my favorite Verve Divas.  You can see her card here.

You Stole a Pizza My Heart

It's hard to believe that my pizza-loving little boy is now a gainfully employed college graduate who will be married in about six weeks.  We've celebrated many birthdays over the years with pizza, but this year it's on the card.  Oh, how true this sentiment is!  He did indeed steal my heart the first time I saw his little face.  I am so very thankful he is a wise, healthy young man who loves and follows God. What a blessing!

This adorable image is from Sweet-N-Sassy Stamps Punny Love set.  I used it for welcome back to school cards for my new students, and I see some cute Valentines in the future!

Favorite Vellum Technique

Seems ages since I made a card, and my husband requested a sympathy card for a co-worker who has suffered a loss.  I like this elegant black and white paper, but the pattern might be considered a little too bold for a card like this.....so, my favorite way to soften a busy pattern or boldly-colored print is to add a vellum layer. Creating a frame provides a good place to hide the adhesive when adding the vellum panel to the card.  I especially love to use PTI's A2 Noted die collection to create frames....isn't the scalloped stitching a great partner to the delicate edge of the card base?  The layered flowers are Tilth Floral by Memory Box and a stitched flower from MFT's collection by the same name.  The inside includes a sympathy sentiment.

Thanks so much for visiting,
Christine
