Birthday Wishes

I just adore this color palette and am thinking about starting a Pinterest board including color swatches and sketches to jumpstart crafting when the ideas just won't come.  The pretty flowers are Altenew's Garden Picks layered over a white oval and a subtly embossed panel.

Alas, my weekend crafty time must come to an end. Thanks for visiting, and have a fabulous week,
Christine

Newton: "It's your purr-thday"

I just love the soft pastel colors in the Inky Paws inspiration photo, and colored Newton and his birthday balloons to match.  The image was embossed in black, softly watercolored, and layered over Reverse Confetti's Grid Stitched Tag and Neat and Tangled's Inlaid Squares Cover Plate.  I enjoyed creating the card and am pleased with the outcome.

Masculine Birthday

It's birthday time in our family, and lots of the guys' birthdays are coming up.  That presents a challenge for my flower-loving stamp collection.  I won this fabulous "Rugged"  paper pad from Authentique and wanted to pile on the layers.

My crafting resolution for this year is to play along with all the 2019 Mojo Monday Sketches, and so far I have.  However, there was a sketch I missed during the holidays, and I couldn't leave that one undone.  Besides, it's a square card, and they are such fun!

Taco 'bout old...

I need a masculine birthday card with just a little sass and was hoping for an order to arrive....It's not here, so I combined a Lawn Fawn image with some die cut letters and numbers to come up with:  "taco'bout old".  I hope the birthday guy gets a good laugh!

Pastel Birthday

I used the lovely palette from the MFT Color Challenge to watercolor Spring Flowers using Arteza Real Brush markers.  I scattered the blooms over Reverse Confetti's Wreath Die and added a little glitter.

Thanks for Being Awesome

It's always a treat to read the Mojo Monday posts.  Julee's cards and sketches provide such inspiration.  I was inspired to search my stash for a pretty floral panel after seeing the gorgeous paper collection she featured his week.

My card also includes Altenew's Garden Picks dies.  I have been cutting them from larger paint chips to try out color combinations and am having such fun!  (Getting funny looks from the mister when collecting lots of paint sample cards at Home Depot is an added bonus!!)

The other crafty "experiment" included is the use of Reverse Confetti's Grid Stitched Tag.  It's a rectangle, and I wanted it to be square.  After cutting it once, I put a part of it back in the die and cut again.  It's an old but good trick.  The fun surprise was that the second cut caused some cool double stitching.  I'll definitely play with this some more.

Birthday Rainbow--Almost!

I always need birthday cards and can find inspiration and even challenges to try new things at the MFT Birthday Project challenge. This month, the challenge is to use rainbow colors, and I almost did...mine is just missing orange as I couldn't find a shade that played nicely with pastels and a pop of red.  These super fun Birds of a Feather dies are from MFT and are great for using scraps or adding small embellishments.

Christine

Rain or Shine

The cute stamps from Newton's Rainy Day were such fun to watercolor for the Inky Paws "Think Spring" Challenge.  It was so relaxing to take a mid-week break and to do a little creating.  On this first day of spring, it was "almost warm", and that brought much pleasure and hope!

Have a wonderful day, rain or shine....

AHSC 308

Happy Wednesday!  Today is the day the the AHSC design team members share their interpretations of Michelle's sketches.  The Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge is set up in such a fun way:  a new sketch is posted each Monday, and design team inspiration is show on Wednesday.  That way, participants can choose to play either before or after being influenced by the DT's interpretations of the sketch.  Such fun!  Hope you will visit the AHSC Blog and play along!

I created a cut file for my Cricut and cut the white frame twice, layering for a little dimension.  The flowers are from MFT's Pressed Flowers, and the leaves are an accessory in the MFT Birds of a Feather Die-Namics set.

Thanks so much for taking a look!

Some People Make the World Special.....

The cobalt blue shade in the Winsor and Newton watercolor set is just lovely, so I couldn't resist using it for the MFT Color Challenge.  The hydrangea is from Technique Tuesday and the sweet sentiment is a retired Verve stamp.  The neutrals were in my scrap collection, and the dimensions were so similar to this week's Mojo Sketch that I couldn't resist using in just one more time.

You're "Owlsome"

Spring Break travels didn't take us to warm climates, but I did have the opportunity to visit a favorite LSS and picked up So Owlsome by Lawn Fawn.  The cute little owls were heat embossed and were tinted with Winsor and Newton watercolors, another Spring Break treat.  (I love the vivid pigments!)

Happy Friday!  It's time for another Fun Friday Challenge at Jo's Scrap Shack where the theme is always Anything Goes.   This week the design team is showcasing  images from Lawn Fawn.  I am excited to share a card with my newest Lawn Fawn set.  I heat embossed these cute little tacos and colored them with Arteza Real Brush markers.  I know this set will be a favorite!

Color Challenge: Happy Birthday

Dreaming of spring on this very cold and rainy Spring Break. Even if it's dreary outside, this pretty MFT color palette will bring spring to the crafting table.  It was fun to play along with the color challenge using MFT's Birds of a Feather dies.

Wishing you sunshine,
Christine

AHSC 306: Celebrate Your Day

Happy Wednesday!  Today is the day the the AHSC design team members share their interpretations of Michelle's sketches.  The Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge is set up in such a fun way:  a new sketch is posted each Monday, and design team inspiration is show on Wednesday.  That way, participants can choose to play either before or after being influenced by the DT's interpretations of the sketch.  Such fun!  Hope you will visit the AHSC Blog and play along!

This card came together so quickly as the stamped panel was in the pretty glass bowl I keep on my desk for "extra pieces".  Somehow, I manage to make too many elements for one card and not enough for two....but somehow those extra lovelies and practice panels eventually make  it onto cards.

The "practice wreath" on this card created with W Plus 9's Freehand Florals and was cut down with a stitched rectangle.  The sentiment is one of my favorites from Verve.

Mojo Monday: Cast Your Cares on the Lord

Pictured above is take 2 for this card.  I tried the "ink-smooshing" technique shown in Julee's video, cut my very first flower using Altenew's Garden Picks Dies, and really smeared the sentiment.  Boo hoo!  I don't like this background as well....just goes to show that every "ink-smooshing" experience is unique!

If you haven't tried the inking technique or a square card, both are lots of fun!

Fun Friday with Cutting Cafe

Happy Friday!  It's time for another Fun Friday Challenge at Jo's Scrap Shack where the theme is always Anything Goes. I was able to work with the Assorted Bag Toppers Set from the  Cutting Cafe

This project was assembled from a white bakery bag left over from my classroom Valentine party.  I cut it down just enough to leave space to emboss the bag and to apply the topper.  The opportunities to resize and to decorate these cute toppers is limitless!  What fun!  I added a few die cut flowers from MFT and a thank you word die.  This bag will hold chocolate chip cookies for a neighbor who pitched in on a repair project.

Please take time to see the design team's samples and to link up your own creations.  It's always fun to see what you have to share!

Thanks so much for taking time to visit,

Christine
