Atlantic Hearts Sketch 292

The technique for this card came from a recent WOW! embossing powder blog hop.  I stamped the image in pale yellow ink using my Misti.  The card stock was removed from the Misti for coloring with Arteza Clean Color Real Brush Markers while the stamp was left in place.  The colored card stock was returned to the Misti for stamping with Versa Mark ink. Then the image was heat embossed in gold embossing powder.

Most of the time, I emboss first and color afterward, but doing it in the way described above helped in coloring the really tiny spaces.  The Floral Bliss set is from Simon Says Stamp.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you find time to play along at AHSC this week.

Open on December 25

Love the clean refreshing feel of the Inspired By sketch, and, of course, it inspired me to make a tag!   I was inspired by the kraft and touches of green.  The sentiments are from a retired RC set called Tinsel and Trim, and the tag is cut from the RC Gift Card Holder Tag which I seem to use a lot, both as a tag and a card layering element.

Winter Friend

Here's another card to share from this year's collection.  I love the simple silhouette and was glad to find a scrap of printed paper that "just fit" the opening in the background.  Seeing a cardinal (or red jay as my son used to call them) brings back such wonderful memories!

Let Every Heart Prepare Him Room

I just finished addressing our Christmas cards.  For the first time ever, ALL of our  Christmas cards are handmade.  This was one of my favorites.  The sentiment is a Verve Plain Jane (retired) and the little bird is from MFT's Birds of a Feather.

MOJO Monday: Let it Snow!

I turned to an older Christmas stack and the MOJO Monday Sketch for a little help making a couple more Christmas cards.  I almost flipped past this page with a large scenic border, but found it to almost the right scale for the cute little snowman from Jingle all the Way.  The paper was wide enough for two background circles, and it was nice  to make two cards of similar design.

Inky Paws Challenge: Mistle Toad

I love to decorate with mistletoe during the holidays....did you know that it's the state flower of Oklahoma and is actually a parasite?  The new Newton's Nook Mistle Toad stamp set combines the fun greenery and a "punny" sentiment for holiday giggles.  I've enjoyed making tags and cards with this adorable amphibian.

Be Still and Know That I Am God

Excited to fit one card into the Simon Says Stamp All that Glitters Challenge.  Adding gold to cards is such an exciting and easy design element, but it's been busy wrapping things up for the Thanksgiving holiday...so here's my only entry.  The "messy wreath" was stamped with W Plus 9 Hand-Sketched florals, die cut with a wonky stitched die from Stamplorations, and mounted with a tilt. The gold sentiment and thin scalloped border are retired Verve products I'll always love!

Stamplorations Giving Thanks Hop---Always Something to Be Thankful For

I am so thankful I discovered Shery Russ and Stamplorations this summer!  The products are of high quality and the Stamp Girls provide lots of wonderful inspiration.

At present, Shery is celebrating the season of gratitude with a blog hop and a wishlist linky party that you can read about here.  I needed a little thank you card and found this Stamplorations sentiment to be perfect.

Shery is also offering the opportunity to link up  a wishlist of Stamplorations products.  Mine can be found here.

Thanks, Shery, for great products and very generous offers to expand our stashes!

Christmas with Newton

Combining a couple of fun challenges:

First, I decided to play along with Tracy McNeely's Twenty-Five Tags of Christmas.  I chose Amanda Bodine's tag from Day Five featuring Newton.  I don't have Newton sets specific to Christmas, so I decided to to use a birthday image that would work with Christmas colors.  Thanks, Amanda, for the inspiration.

The Inky Paws inspiration photo features fun Christmas prints in red, green, and black, so Newton fits there, too.

MFT Sketch Challenge: Birthday Queen

It's always fun to choose a sketch and let a plan for a card brew in the mind.  MFTs Queen for the Day stamps and coordinating die offers such great sentiments and fit well with the sketch.

Wishing you happy family times during this season of thankfulness,
Christine

MFT Birthday Project

The current MFT Birthday Challenge theme is:  "Have a Wild Birthday".  I love Adorable Elephants and had fun creating this card.  It's actually a CASE of a card I made for a MFT Summer School lesson.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch 290: Love You More Than Donuts

Isn't Michelle's sketch just fabulous?  Flowers are my favorite crafting element, but I just received a new stamp set from Jane's Doodles, so donuts it will be for this project!   I purchased the stamp set because it reminds me of my husband's Sunday morning ritual. On our way to church, we make a carefully-timed donut stop.  He plans our arrival to coincide with the availability of freshly-cooked donuts.  He has one hot donut a week, so it's not a terrible habit.  Anyway, I am putting this back for Valentine's Day and hope he will enjoy it!

Also hope you will find time to play along at AHSC.

Thanks for dropping by,
Christine

SSS Challenge: Thanks

I was so amazed by Lin's beautiful Simon Says Stamp inspiration piece that I CASED her design using the best fit from my stash.  You can see her glorious floral card here

The largest floral image in my collection is Technique Tuesday's Happy Hydrangea.  I stamped it in Versa Mark on watercolor paper and tinted it with Arteza Real Brush Markers after embossing in gold.  So much fun!

Happy Birthday with Pressed Flowers

MFT Pressed Flowers is such a versatile set!  The layers are gorgeous, but the die can also be used to cut a softly watercolored panel  with only the center stamped in a contrasting color.  They are used here with a scattering of leaves from Birds of a Feather.

Add Burlap or Twine: Mistle Toad

I positively adore the Mistle Toad by Newton's Nook.  Such a cute image and witty sentiment...even if she is all decked out for Christmas and tucked into the pumpkins on the dining room table.

The current Inky Paws challenge calls for burlap or twine, so I used some natural cording to top off this fun tag.

Mojo Monday: Let Every Heart Prepare Him Room

How wonderful it is to have Mojo Monday back on alternating weeks!  I love the elegant feel to this week's sketch, and the added measurements.  Noticed those after I started cutting, though.  What do I teach?  Reading......

My papers are from several different Christmas stacks and feature subtle stars, snowflakes and text (the word joy).  I hope to work out a card with some more traditional Christmas colors and plaids using the same sketch.

CAS-ual Fridays Inspiration

The leaves were embossed and cut from paint samples....so vivid and pretty, but they cracked a bit here an there.  The corrugated leaf was cut from a coffee sleeve and inked on the edges.  The sweet sentiment is retired from Verve.

Thanks to the folks at CAS-ual Fridays for a pretty inspiration photo and for the designers' beautiful samples.
