Bugaboo Christmas in July

Please take a minute to visit Christina Hor's blog to read all about The Cards for Little Hearts drive.  You will be delighted to see Christina's wonderful work and to learn about how she collects winter cards to encourage children hospitalized for congenital heart difficulties.

The Bugaboo Christmas in July Challenge has kept my Cards for Little Hearts inspired:  Today's challenge is to use the colors shown in the inspiration photo.  (I'd really love to have a girly pink tree, but that wouldn't be acceptable to the wonderful guys in my family.  :)

Bugaboo Christmas in July: Photo Inspiration

The Bugaboo Christmas in July Challenge is working well with my desire to create a variety of cards for Christina Hor's drive to collect winter greetings for children hospitalized due to heart problems.  You can read all about it on Christina's blog.

I was inspired by the bright colors of Santa's golf umbrella and used a Bugaboo tag as the central element, masking off the "to" and "from" in Word.  The sentiment is by Hannelie Besler.  Hope the bright colors and the smiling snowman will brighten a child's day.

Bugaboo Christmas in July: Bingo

My "Bugaboo Bingo" is a diagonal constisting of  pink, white, and gold; a Bugaboo image; and snowflake embossing.  I intended to add a gold layer or banner, but the gold and white washi tape frame was lying in my scrap bowl, and I decided it was a cute way to set off the image.  Unfortunately, there is a lot of glare in the photo.

Bugaboo Christmas in July

Handmade tags add such a nice touch to gifts of all kinds, and I enjoyed making this one.  It features a Bugaboo Penguin, and the tag pieces are cut from these Reverse Confetti dies:  Gift Card Holder Tag and Hang Ups.  I stayed away from red and green and hope that my shades of blue will be considered non-traditional hues.

Thanks so much for visiting,
Christine

New Verve stamps in the craft room!  Hooray!  This card features a sentiment from Fill My Cup and a coffee mug from Happiness Is (which has matching dies).  I used Kerry's fun CAS sketch from the Coffee Lovers Blog and some papers from the pixel scrapper.

Thanks a latte, Joy Clair!

During the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop, I was blessed to receive Joy Clair's blog candy.  I ordered this set of coffee  stamps and also had a personalized stamp made to use on the backs of cards.  Both are awesome.  Thanks a latte to the folks at Joy Clair and to Kerry Urbatch for her fun Sunday Sip and Share posts on the CLC blog.  Love this sketch and all of Kerry's creative ideas for CAS cards!

Sketch meets Inspiration Photo: Happy Birthday

Love combining a sketch with an inspiration photo for lots of crafty fun.  Using MFT's Stitched Squares and Verve's Poppy Birthday made this card come together very quickly.  The smaller squares were cut from a scrap of paper watercolored with Prima's Pastel Dreams.  The cluster of poppies hides the square that's really a rectangle due to the fact that my scrap strip was a little too small for four squares.  I am linking to the challenges listed below

Jesus in my Heart and Coffee in my Hand

What fun to play with some new Verve Stamps!  This set is called Fill My Cup.  In an effort to keep the front of the card clean and layered, I added a heart and one of the mugs to the inside.

The Paper Craft Crew has a new challenge up....easy for this project:  Use something new to you.  I am linking there and at Word Art Wednesday.

A Sketch from The Challenge

I love sketch challenges!  It is such fun to see the different looks created from the same basic layout.  This sketch was provided by The Challenge and utilizes Verve's Joyful Blooms and a new (to me) Recollections collection of papers in shades of mint and pink with pretty gold metallic accents.  The gold card stock used for layering is embossed (it came that way).  Next time, I will emboss a scrap and see if a finer pattern will cover a larger one.  Crafting is always a learning experience.

One-Layer Card for Tuesday Throwdown

The Tuesday Throwdown Challenge is to create a one-layer card.  My last card included a base, three papers, and dies from five different sets.  I am not sure I've made many one-layer cards before!  I have enjoyed using Reverse Confetti's Rose Garden lately---but with the matching dies.  I did a lot of practicing on scraps and can see some blemishes in this card, but it was truly fun to try something new!

I am also entering another new-to-me challenge---the Stamplorations July Challenge has the theme of warm colors which are present in the florals.

CAS(E) this Sketch --Happy Holidays

It was lots of fun to see the designers samples and to view entries in the link up at CASE this Sketch. My card has a holiday theme as I am currently making holiday greetings for the Cards for Little Hearts Drive.  I tried several rectangles in my die stash and found good proportions from this Papertrey set.  The sentiment is from Verve's Jolly Jingles, and snowflake die is a Simon Says Stamp exclusive.

Sending Hugs

It's been so much fun creating for the Cards for Little Hearts Drive sponsored by Christina Hor.  I hope you will join in the fun by visiting her blog and learning all about the drive and how it blesses children hospitalized with heart conditions.  The elements of this card include:  "For the Love" papers by Sheila Reid, Verve's Coffee stamps with matching dies, Verve's Heart Quartet Die, and the digital "Sending Hugs" sentiment by the very talented "Desert Diva" Hannelie.  I hope you will take time to visit Hannelie's blog.  She aspires to create cards with a "wow factor", and she certainly does.  If you visit, you will find lots of creative inspiration and some lovely sentiments!

Cards for Little Hearts

Christina Hor is hosting a very worthy card drive designed to encourage pediatric heart patients during the winter holidays.  A gesture of kindness means so much on an ordinary day, but love and encouragement help to promote healing, too.  Please visit Christina's blog for all the details on how you can share a few cards to bless children and their families during the healing process.

Blessings,
Christine

Sunday Stamps: Tall and Skinny Created from "Left-Overs"

When creating this card, I stamped and die cut lots of pieces from Reverse Confetti's Rose Garden.  I loved how the colors worked together and had four roses and some greenery left over.  This seemed like a good time to try a tall and skinny card, and the fit was great!  My favorite part of the sketch was the washi tape, and I tried adding both B/W stripes and gold and white dots, but felt like both designs overwhelmed the floral part.  Good thing washi tape is so easy to remove!

I will link to Sunday Stamps.  Thanks for taking a look!

Sunshine and Laughter

Love, love the inspiration photo at The Challenge.  The bold, summery flowers and hint of black stripes created such a fun search through papers and stamps.  I'd have never risked a green rose or learned I'd love it without a nudge from the photo!

Stamps used are Reverse Confetti Rose Garden and Verve Brighter Days.

Thank you for taking a peek,
Christine

You Color My World

After selecting a rainbow of paint sample cards at a local discount store, I die cut them with a banner die from My Favorite Things.  The Color Me Happy sentiment set and color word die are from Sunny Studio Stamps. The tiny flower/leaf dies were a "bonus gift" with my Sunny Studio order.
