Birthday Wishes Easel Card

I made this card for  an upcoming birthday and to fit a couple of challenges.  First, this card features NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) -- card stock and designer paper that came in a card kit. I hoarded it because there was only one sheet of each color/design, and it is so pretty.  This card also features a Never Before Used Style----a twisted easel fold.
The stamps are a favorite Verve set: Joyful Blooms.

Thanks so much for stopping by,
Christine

Fun Friday Challenge 208 with Lawn Fawn

Happy Friday!  It's time for another Fun Friday Challenge at Jo's Scrap Shack where the theme is always Anything Goes.  The design team is showcasing images by  Lawn Fawn.  My card features "Happy Turkey Day" which is great for Thanksgiving favors as well as for cards.  This card is on a Kraft base and includes papers from Pixel Scrapper cut with stitched square dies from My Favorite Things.   Below, I shared the Verve Sketch from my "favorites" file that inspired the layout.

Please take time to see the design team's samples and to link up your own creations.  It's always fun to see what you have to share!

Thanks for visiting,
Christine

Joy Fold Card with Lawn Fawn's Plus One

I was blessed to win Lawn Fawn's Plus One stamp set in a blog give away last spring and just hadn't had an occasion to make a baby card.  Happy to announce that two of my coworkers are expecting their own bundles of joy!  It was fun to make this joy fold card, and I keep telling myself that I should cut some of the pieces and have them on hand to decorate with layers of DP and stamped images.  This time, I created a "latch" from an MFT Stitched circle layered with an MFT Stitched Flower.  It's popped up on a dimensional to catch the edge of the second folded layer.

Thanks for taking a look,
Christine

See You at the Pole---Grace Changes Everything

Students will gather September 27th around flag poles outside schools far and wide to participate in student-led prayer.  At my elementary school, a delightful young lady will lead SYATP exhibiting faith and maturity beyond her years.  I prayed while making this card to thank her for her efforts in publicizing this event and for so boldly leading fellow students and teachers in prayer.

Please pray for our youth and our schools tomorrow.

Blessings,
Christine

All I need is: a little bit of coffee, a whole lot of Jesus....and a coffee cup!

This school theme of this card is inspired by a funny event that occurred in the teachers' workroom.  I arrived at school early that day, had finished the coffee in my travel mug, and strolled down to the faculty workroom for a refill.  A coworker had two styrofoam dessert bowls filled with coffee, holding one in each hand.  We'd run out of disposable coffee cups, and she used the first available containers.  What a great laugh we had over her bowls of coffee!

Three Verve sets appear on this card: Coffee, Fill my Cup, and Teachers Count.  The sweet banner was cut with Reverse Confetti's Tall Tag Trio, and the Cross-Stitched circles are from MFT.

AHSC 230: Let us come boldly to the throne of grace

My card features a scripture from Verve's New Mercies set and papers from the Petals and Blooms collection by Paper Studio.  I was set on using this scripture and its size dictated that a few of the sketch elements wouldn't make it into the finished project.  I love the sketch and will place it in my "keepers file".

Jesus and Coffee

Verve released "Fill my Cup" during the Summer Coffee Lovers Bloghop, and I fell in love with the sentiments!  I heat embossed the sentiment---which is not yet a well-developed skill---so it looks a little distressed and layered the tag with a doily, a stitched rectangle, and scalloped border all from My Favorite Things.  The coffee cup, with matching die, is from Verve's Coffee set.

Blessed by the kindness of a friend

Just a little card to say thanks to a friend for lending a helping hand.  This month's Verve sketch is perfect for my new Scalloped Frames from Reverse Confetti, and I think the sentiments from Kindness Matters are my favorite way to say thank you.

Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

The Challenge at 4 Crafty Chicks is to create something geometric, so I pulled out one of my favorite sketches.  I mounted stitched squares over a stitched scalloped square die cut....all these dies are from My Favorite Things.  The  Lawn Fawn coffee cup was pieced to match the background paper which is available at Pixel Scrapper.  The layered doily dies are also from MFT, but they have been discontinued, I believe.

The first time I used this sketch, I turned the background panel upside down by mistake!
The poor little trees are upside down, but how funny that is when paired with the sentiment!

Happiness Is...A Huge Cup of Coffee

We've been without internet for a couple weeks, but more importantly, have been busy in the aftermath of Harvey.  I made  two cards last night and feel like I've been on a crafting spree!

This coffee themed card features Verve's Happiness Is set and some pretty papers by Harper Finch.  I adore the inspirational color palette from Sunday Stamps and enjoyed the sketch from As You See It.

Happy Saturday,
Christine

Coffee Lovers Blog Hop: " Fill My Cup, Lord"

After a busy week, it was a blessing to find a little crafting time and to just pray this phrase while cutting and pasting.  The sentiment is from Verve and can be found here.   The sweet little mug is from another Verve set called Happiness Is, and it has matching dies available. I added the little heart to cover an ink smudge and like the look. The digital papers are from Pixel Scrapper.

Fun Friday Challenge 206 with Bugaboo Stamps

Happy Friday!  It's time for another Fun Friday Challenge at Jo's Scrap Shack where the theme is always Anything Goes.  The design team is showcasing images by  Bugaboo Stamps.  I printed Coffee Words on yellow DP, cut with circular dies and added a few Stitched Flowers from MFT.  The coffee word die from Verve was cut three times and layered for dimension.

Please take time to see the design team's samples and to link up your own creations.  It's always fun to see what you have to share!

Verve Sketch Meets Card Concept

Love the new Verve sketch and the gorgeous inspiration photo from the Card Concept.  I used a sympathy sentiment from Verve's New Mercies and die cut some MFT Stitched Flowers as accents.  My photography doesn't do the soft colors justice.

Be Kind (For Everyone is Fighting a Hard Battle)

This card includes a sentiment from Verve's Kindness Matters and Petals and Blooms papers cut with Reverse Confetti's Lacy Scallop Frames.
The VLV sketch made it fun and easy to assemble.

I am going to keep this project on display in my craft room as a reminder.  We've been home only two days after evacuating due to Hurricane Harvey.  The outer bands of the storm brought us over two feet of rain, but we were spared damaging winds.  Our home site was carefully selected after visiting the property many times following hard rains, so we were not surprised that so much rain ran off nicely leaving us safe and free from standing water.  Then, the rivers began to fill with flood waters draining from the north and we were left with but one means of evacuation.  We left our home with important papers, photos, and a few days' worth of clothing as the river crept into yards just across the street.  We returned to find our home unscathed, but many neighbors have several feet of water in their homes.  My hands and heart are ready to help when the waters recede, and I pray for wisdom and kindness and the ability to speak words of encouragement.

In our fearful days of evacuation, God lavished His grace upon us in sweet and humbling ways that I will forever treasure in my heart.  If you are still reading this long and personal post, please pray for the little children who will return to my classroom on Monday.  I hope to communicate God's love to them in a real way.

Blessings,
Christine

Fun Friday Challenge 204 with Bugaboo Stamps

Happy Friday!  It's time for another Fun Friday Challenge at Jo's Scrap Shack where the theme is always Anything Goes.  The design team is showcasing images by  Bugaboo Stamps.  My first card utilizes  this Bugaboo image called "Thanks a Bunch" colored in warm tones and backed with a long-awaited set of Lacy Scalloped Frames by Reverse Confetti.  They've been on my wish list (and the out-of-stock list) for a long while, but were well worth the wait!)

My second card features the very aptly named "Halloween Cute Set".  I added a computer generated sentiment and shaded the mummy bit to make her look aged.

Please take time to see the design team's samples and to link up your own creations.  It's always fun to see what you have to share!
