Cards for Guys

 Since I started making cards, I have given Mom a year's supply of birthday, Easter, and Valentine's Day cards.  I find it hard to create cards for guys,  primarily because I love soft colors, florals, and doily-like die cuts.  To make cards for the guys on the list, I ordered a set from Creative Worship Stanps called Birthday Guy, and to give it a trial run, I made a card with each of the four stamps.

Rejoice Evermore!

I don't know about you, but it's the succinct, clear commands of God that are easily comprehended but often hard to follow.  Rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks, and do everything without complaining.  There is much to rejoice about when we ask God to focus our hearts on Him.  He is always good, and I have come to realize that if the ONLY thing He had ever done for me was to give the gift of salvation, that is more than enough to keep me rejoicing for the eternity He has given me to praise Him.  

Along with this week's Word Art Wednesday scripture, my card includes scraps from an American Crafts 6x6 card stock pad and some retired dies from My Favorite Things and Verve.

Formed and Set Apart by God

 Someone who shares a card at Word Art Wednesday is in for  a big treat!  Stamp Simply is sponsoring the current challenge, and their stamps and dies are amazing!  I love Stamp Simply's Welcome Baby set; it's a go-to for baby cards I make for a pregnancy resource center ministry and to give to friends, as well.  

This card was created from strips of paper that came from a group purchased at Michael's and sold in a 6 x 6 pouch.  It's down to strips and scraps, but I found enough to layer for a sweet baby card.

 This is another card that came from a crafting windfall when someone cleaned out a 12 x 12 scrapbooking stash.  I cut the papers and scraps into card fronts and organized them in a bin....it's like having something new and I think it's creatively stimulating.

God Remembers His Covenant

 

Our God is so faithful!  The reference to Him remembering His covenant is not a sign that He forgets but that He acts upon it and faithfully upholds His part of the promise.

Just and Right is He

Recent projects have included 40 Mother's Day cards for a ministry project and 60+ thank you notes for a different ministry project, and that's left a lot of scraps on my desk!  I made a "rule" for myself:  each project going forward must include some of the papers from the scrap pile on my desk.  Happy to say this card followed the rule.  All the pieces are scraps except for the plaid background panel.  It's from a 4x6 stack, thus generating only a 0.75 x4 inch scrap.  Will this ever end?

The Lord is My Portion for WAW

 

Having the Lord as our portion is the greatest of all blessings!  Love this scripture and had fun adorning it with Papertrey  Ink's Into the Blooms Dies Set 2.  The scripture was printed on white cardstock and cut with a die from PTI as well.  The background is cut from a 12x12 sheet from Paper Studios.

What a special joy it is to have the opportunity to Guest Design for Creative Worship Stamps! It was fun to color the beautiful image from Butterfly Bliss with Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Pencils and to add a bright, messy bow. Most important, though, is the fact that no matter our circumstances, God is always near! Today, I praise Him for His peace and His mercies during a recent time of trial.

Some times card projects have stories....this card was born as I went through my bin of 6 x6 patterned paper stacks to pull out scraps for favors to share at an upcoming luncheon.  This card was made from some of the very last bits of a My Mind's Eye collection.  Really....I save the tiniest bits and pieces and they found a home on this project.  The floral dies are from Spellbinders and the rounded tag is by Pink Fresh Studio.

Happy is he for Word Art Wednesday

I had lots of fun with this card!  I always print my WAW images and cut them out at the beginning of the month.  I grabbed the Gather pad by Echo Park and started layering scraps behind the sentiment panel and cut flowers (MFT Dies) from other scraps tucked into the stack.

Strength and Peace for Word Art Wednesday

Divinity Designs is the sponsor for the current Word Art Wednesday!!!  I am using a verse from Divinity Design's Scripture Series 3 collection.

Scripture is such blessing!  So many verses are clear and easily applied to our lives.  God calms our hearts as we speak them back to Him in prayer.  I love Ps. 29:11 for those reasons.

I would have to say is is among my all-time favorite stamps because years ago, Divinity Designs asked customers to select verses for an upcoming collection.  When I submitted Psalm 29:11 and it was chosen, I was gifted a complimentary set.   What an awesome gift!!

Comfort in Affliction

 Truly God's word does comfort in affliction. I've spent a lot of times in the Psalms lately, only to find that David, especially, was honest with God about all of his feelings.  After pouring out his heart, he was able to praise God, bringing renewed courage and life to his soul.
